Position: Planning Engineer with Costain on their nuclear decommissioning framework at Berkeley Power Station. 

The framework objective is to help Magnox put the decommissioned nuclear power station at Berkeley into ‘Care & Maintenance’.  To achieve this they are in the process of extracting all remaining ‘intermediate level waste’ and processing it ready for disposal at a geological disposal facility.  The framework contract is based on the NEC model.  My role as the site planner is fourfold:

·          To collate the individual resource look-ahead programmes (excel) to ensure short term resourcing of the project is adequate as well as enabling the smoothing out of any peaks and troughs in labour demand

·          Produce both tender and contract programmes in Primavera P6.

·          To update the contract programmes on a monthly basis and monitor them against their baselines.

·          Integrate up to ten individual work package contract programmes and monitor their interaction to ensure that there are no activity clashes.
