Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Importing Into P6 V 8.2

What type of files can you import into P6 V 8.2 eg. Microsoft Project etc?

Just remember, any column with an asterick will not import back into the software.  I have been creating a user text, user integer or use rnumber column and importing things into it as a work around for some scenarios.  This works well for a limited number of items.  Does anyone understand the logic in the "Autocost Rules" for P6?  I have not found a concise definition of these rules written down.  Am I overlooking this information?  Thanks, Adam

P6 V8.2 Optional and Professional Client will import.

  • XER, which is Primavera's file type for importing and exporting
  • Primavera XML, similar to XER but only one project at a time may be imported,
  • P3
  • MSP XML format
  • MPP if you have only an earlier version of MSP, 2003 and earlier,  as later versions disable the MPP import
  • XLS

 

P6 V8.2 Web will import

  • Primavera XML, similar to XER but only one project at a time may be imported,
  • MSP XML format
  • XLS
