Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi Everybody,

I have an urgent tender programme I must finish ASAP and my calandar won't calculate correctly.

My base calendar is set at 8hr/day 5 days a week, all my activities that use this calendar are fine (a day = a day)

But when i try to use a 7hr/day 5 days a week it does not calculate correctly, I have set this calendar with a 1 hour lunch break so it starts and finishes the same time as my 8hr day calendar.

If i add an activity using the 7hr/day calendar and put the duration as 1 day it starts at 9am but finishes at 10am the following day.

How do i get this to finish at 5pm the same day?

If you could help me that would be great.

John

John,

The answer to your question depends upon what version of P6 you are using.  Gary gave you the answer for Versions before Version 7.  Version 7 and later can set the number of hours in a day in the calendar (if the Administrator’s setting allows this.)  Good luck!

John,

The reason for this is that in your admin>admin preferences>time periods options, you have 1 day set to equal 8 hours.

You could change this to 7 hours, but then you would just screw up all your activities that are on an 8hr/day caxlendar.

Better solution is to enter your durations in hours, rather than days. -e.g. for a 1 day duration on your 7h/day activities, type "7h" in the duration box.
