Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Best n Easy way for Update??

Hi All,

Which is the best option for Duration Type & % Complete Type (in P6) for a typical Construction Project.

Thanks in advance.

A Schedule might involve two things, Time or Money, so it depends on what is most important for you.

To measure Time or Money,

1. More Time means more Money (?).

2. More Money does not necessarily mean more Time.

3. Time is natural while Money is what?

4. Time only moves in one direction - clockwise (this is why I wonder why "backward pass" is necessary?).

5. And how Money moves?

6. I think it’s easy to find Time, and to find Money?...

7. Time always accumulates (like your age), and Money?...

8. And I supposed all Businesses were established to find Money and never to find Time (?).

So what is most important?

I mean among 4 duration types which one is to be used,
and among the 3 options availabe for % complete type which is tobe used for typical construction schedules.
The progress monitoring criteria is by using only one resource (Manhours).

Hi Salman,

I guess the best n easiest way to update is to use Progress Spotlight and then Update Progress.

Cheers,
