Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hey all,

Does anyone know how to increase the Activity ID figures?? Basically at the moment P6 will only allow me to put in 20 figures.

For example: I want to have activity ID # ABCDEFGHIJKL123456789 (21 figures) though P6 will only 20..

If anyone knows how to change the length in setting or something please let me know!!

Thanks & Regards

Ben,

I think you can make use of User Defined Fields with text data type and type in your document number, then use global change to combine Activity ID + document number into another text field.

Duy,

Thats what I said in my below email.

The ID # I gave was an example, the number is a document number and it is a request from client to have number in schedule, also in planning procedure..

I agree that its to long in most cases, but documents it should be ok.

There needs to be an increase in ID characters!

Thank you for you reply though.

Regards
Ben

Hi,

Why did you want ID too long? It make you more confuse.

I don’t think you can make it except those who written the software and designed its tables in SQL.

All,

Its under Admin prefereces, though Primavera P6.2 has a maximum of 20 characters available for activity ID.
