Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Help with the patches!

Dear all,
We are planning to upgrade from P3ec4.1 to P3ec5.Can anyone tell me if all the patches for version 5 have been released or some patches are still to come from Primavera. This would help me negotiating with the vendor.
Regards,
Suraj

As I understand, the annual maintenance fee is 20% of the value of your software, so if you do not intend upgrading in the next 5 years you may be better off not renewing.

However, if you decide after a couple of years that you want the latest version and start your maintenance again, you may be charged from the time your previous maintenance agreement expired.

This was the case a few years ago when I worked for a Primavera reseller, and it might be worth checking with your local Primavera rep in case there is a chance you may want to upgrade in the future.

Cheers

I think it’s a little unfair to claim you haven’t used your annual maintenance in the last year. Surely you received your Primavera 5 release, which you would not have if you did not pay maintenance. Most software business models use the continuation of maintenance payments as justification for the investment in new releases capable of easy migration; if no-one wanted maintenanceand version upgrade Primavera would not have the enormous added cost of developing update routines.

As far as patches for P5 are concerned, for sure there will be patches - all responsible software houses do this - however if your maintenance agreement expires in a few weeks time you may be too late to get the P5 ones.

Try to check advances on Primavera Engineering and Construction v.5.0.

If there are advances that u think will be useful for your work, so it is a good investment. If it doesn’t, do not change.

Dear Suraj,

Primavera is always improving its product line. Every month or two they release new patches. I have no doubts they will still release new patches with better P4 v5.

You did’t get me.I am completing my Annual maintenance contract Jan06.So if all the patches for version 5 have been released I am planning not to renew the AMC.Its pretty expensive and we did’t use it last year at all.

Suraj Bhatt;

I think that Primavera is giving upgrade for free to companies that had bought P3e v.4.1 in the last 6 months.
