Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I have a started activity, with a remaining duration. I’ve broken the predecessor and successor ties, rescheduled, and am still getting an early finish that does not come from the remaining duration. I’ve run PFXW, recalced many times, etc. Help??

Go to Project Overview > check Project Must Finish By. If you imposed any finish date constraint, remove it and re-calculate the schedule.

No, I checked all that.

It turned out to be a topic activity that had a predecessor! I ran the no-topic utility, and organized the schedule in suretrak in outline mode, then outdented everything. Now my RD is driving my EF.

Do you have an Expected Finish constraint posted for that activity?
