Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi,

I guess there is no forum for Vico Control, so I just posted this here.

I am trying out Vico Control in demo mode and I am having this difficulty, I cannot modify/create a new dependency between locations within a task.

I have created a new project from scratch and added "Task A" with locations "Loc 1", "Loc 2", "Loc 3", "Loc 4", "Loc 5". By default, vico will create dependencies/relationships FS 0 to these locations within this task. Thats fine, but lets say i want to make loc 4 and loc 5 occur simultaneously (SS 0), vico wont allow me to create a new dependency, saying "Cannot create task part internal dependency". I dont know if this is a limitation of the demo mode, a limitaion of vico control itself since the product is a location based scheduling software and i guess for that the assumption that a location has to be finished first before proceeding to the next applies, or if it has something to do with the fact that the FS 0 relationship hasn't been deleted yet and i am adding this new dependency ( I dont know how to delete the default relationship/dependency).

Anybody using this software and had the same problem before, please post your solutions and/or work around.

PS, I've tried to export the vico file to primavera p6 and just make the changes there, the problem is scheduling the project in p6, forces the original duration to "0", tried storing the OD to user_integer1 before scheduling using global change and then use global change again to copy the user_integer1 to the OD field, I noticed, the copied OD were inconsistent with the original values, so i tried the user_text1 instead, this time the OD can be copied correctly to user_text1 but not back to OD.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,

Keyel

Hi José,

I can't answer your question since my experience in VICO is limited. I have only it in demo mode and I haven't got the chance to try the cost part. I'm sorry and I hope someone else will be able to answer your questions.

Good luck.

Hi Keyel!!

i read you message.

I would like to discuss about costs in VICO.

1 - How to insert costs in the activities?

2 - Make S curve?

3 - Make Cash flow?

Thanks,

José Otávio.

Some update, I found out that the expected finish in p6 is messing up with the durations.. maybe something to do with the mapping of the fields between vico and p6. I am only doing this as a work around, I hope you guys know some better solutions within vico without splitting the tasks.

In addition to my previous post, even manually changing the durations of the exported file in P6, scheduling the project still forces the durations to "0". I dont kknow how this is so.
