Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi Guys,

A good and a blessed day to all and it's been a while that i post.

Question:

We would to know if any of you have experienced to add manpower resources to an on-going project, wherein it is around 82% complete (and a lot of activities are 100% complete)? Or is there a trick or a way-around to do manpower loading in an on-going project schedule? Thank you in advance and hoping you help us on the matter.

Hi Guys,

Thanks, we have added the necessary manpower resources to the project, bur we never level, we just play around with the max unit/time value...

Again Thank you very much!

Ruel,

Add a Resource Pool and Create a Resource Code "ReM Works ReS" then assign to the Added Resources. This will easily identify those newly added Resources.

Assign the Resources to Remaining Activities (Not Started and In-Progress).

Hope this will help.

add the manpower and make sure that you have recalauclate actual units and cost when duration % complete changes

and Link actual todate and actuals this period units and costs checked

leveling NEVER works

Hi Ruel,

I assume that when you say "add manpower resources" it means to analyse the impact of an increase of manpower in the master works programme from, say Primavera P6, agree on, and then actually increasing the manpower on site.

Since the project is in progress, the remaining work is reflected by the remaining units in P6.

If you have been using P6's Resource Leveling function, then simply increase the max units/time and level the project again.

If you have been manually resource leveling, then also increase the max units/time but you will have to manually level the activities to fill-up the increased work capacity as seen in the resource usage profile analysis.

You could also adjust the remaining units / time of the resource assignments for activities where appropriate and logical.

Hope that helps.
