Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi

Everyso often i have to convert programmes from P6 to Candy and vice versa. These tow sets of software dislike each other and this does not seem to work directly with the newest versions of both software. The only way i can make it work is to go via Microsoft project. Has anyone else had a similar experiences and solutions? Thanks DE Auckland NZ

Good day Dave, Kevin

With the latest version of Candy (version 2.01b75) you can export a XML file that can be imported into Primavera release 8

2596
p6.8.3_export.jpg

Highlight the program in the program manager > Select Tools > Export > Export a Primavera 6.8.3 XML file.

This XML file can then be imported intp Primavera release 8 as a Primavera XML file.

You can also import into Candy a XML file created from ANY Primavera version (6.7 to release 8)

Select Tools > Import > General Importer (XML ......etc)

No need anymore to go the long route as mentioned above.

Note: You also always have the option to send a Candy planning backup to us for conversion to Primavera OR send us a zipped Primavera XML file for conversion to Candy. Just send it to siteplan@ccssa.com. We will do the conversion for you even if you are not a Candy user/client.

On the web site http://constructioncomputersoftware.com/home/products/candy/candy-features/planning/ you can download the instructions on how to exchange program information with Primavera. On this document you can also see what does and does not get exported.

Trust this will help

Regards Izak

Hi Kevin

Thanks for your post.

Do you really have to do this via Power project?

It seems very long winded to go from CANDy to MSP to PowerProject and finally to P6?

Happy to do that if it works but unfortunately i dont have a copy of Asta Power Project

Regards DE

Hi Dave,

Candy version 2.01b41 to Primavera release 8.

Candy - Job manager - double click on project to export.

In program manager - tools - export a MSP XML file.

Save - keep name short with no spaces. Export to MS Project, (formal notice ok)

Open MSP - all files - find saved file - open as new project (circular loop notice)

Save as XML.

Open Asta Powerproject -  file open - find file - as a blank, (show all levels)

File - save as - primavera XER

Primavera export (options notice ok)

Close Asta

Open Primavera - import file (Primavera XER)

Find file - open (file name) - import to (check location & action), change currency,

Should receive a notice re. notice import was successful.
