Website Upgrade Incoming - we're working on a new look (and speed!) standby while we deliver the project

Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi all,

We've recently upgraded our P6 install to v23.12, and have one lingering snag that myself and our IT dept can't solve. I'm hoping someone else here may have had similar and managed to resolve!

While in office, performance is spot on - we can schedule projects fine, and importing of XERs is pretty quick.

While working at home via VPN - scheduling works, but is slow, and any XER imports of a moderate size end up timing out and throwing error codes (relating to the time out, we found). We've investigated via our installation consultants, RPC, and also hit a dead end. IT guys have tried all sorts, and last try was the below:

Oracle dont recommend any AV exceptions other than the standard SQL exceptions which are already in place.

I have however added a firewall rule allowing explicit access to the application ports for VPN users, as thats the only thing left open to try.

Any help would be much appreciated. As we have the EPPM version, we can import via web app at least, but not ideal!

Hi David,

we have one planner who is logging in via a remote desktop (VMWare Horizon), as doesn't have any company IT kit, and has no issue, so it's only those of us that use company laptops via VPN with the issue.

Humour me. Run via a remote desktop, to change the traffic type, and see what happens?

That's the baffling thing about it.

We previously had v17.2 and it worked perfectly over VPN, and all settings for the VPN (and AV/firewall) are matching.

Difference with our set up versus yours is that we don't open a virtual desktop via VPN, we just use it to connect to company network from home.
