Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I am having trouble with PDF copies of the MSP programme
I have tried all diferent types of PDF creators.
As soon as I open the created PDF it shuts down Adobe after five or six seconds or if i try to utilise the programme.
I am using MSP 2007 / XP and have tried to solve the problem many ways with no result and was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and has a solution!

Regards
Andrew

Try setting your PDF "Printer" as the "default printer". It works with a similar issue for Primavera Suretrak.

Hello!

I also have this issue with MSP07 and PDFCreator.
We fixed part of the issue by trying to change the ’Print Quality" in the Advanced Options of PDFCreator. It seems to work.

I have another issue with MSP07 when using Group. On the screen it is ok, but when you print (in print preview too) there are colors only for groups names, no more color vertically.

Thank you all for your advice.
I have tried all but I believe Darren is on the money here.
This option has been used on a collegues pc and it seems to work on there and the 3d is turned off. It does seem to work.

Thanks again
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

There’s a known problem when printing to PDF from 2k7. I believe it’s to do with printer tolerances and a 3D Bars option in MS Project.

If you uncheck the ’bars and shapes in gantt view in 3D’ option (Tools > Options > View) then it overcomes this issue.

Not sure if this is the cause of your problem, but it might be worth giving it a shot.

Regards,

Darren

Apart from the obvious - I have found that the more amended views you have the bigger the file - try to reduce all the views, graphics etc and file save as this sometimes reduces the file size. I would also add that printing to pdf from large file sizes has never been a problem for me (upto 150MB)

Good Luck

Andrew

Hi andrew

When printing to PDF - check in the print properties section - What resolution are you printing at

I usulaly print at 300dpi - the higher the dpi, the bigger the file size

Try reducing the resolution (to an acceptable reading level)

I have tried all of the below!
With no success I think Rubus might be right and the problem lies with the file size.
What would make a relitively small programme have an abnormal large size file excluding the obvious of inserts and company logo’s?

I agree with Colin.

The problem seems to be with the pdf converter. Try converting Word, Powerpoint files to pdf & check if it’s the same case. Also the problem can arise if your file size is too big.

The best might be to reinstall the pdf converter.

Kind regards.

Dear all,

PDF 995 is a free software on the web. I use this for all programme print-outs in PDF.

Andrew

Check if you can read them on another machine - if so it may be the reader.

The last time I had a problem with the pdf reader, I uninstalled adobe then re-installed it.

Hope this helps

Thanks Happy Planning
Have tried all types of PDF creaters
It is my thinking that the problem is with the MSP programme.
The problem has arrived after months of having no problem at all. Seems to work ok sometimes and not others
Having no problem with P6 conversions
