Planning Engineer, ALPINE Bau Deutschland AG, ADNOC Administration Building and BOROUGE Non-Process Buildings Project

START Date:
June, 2011

I am employed with ALPINE Bau Deutschland AG as a Planning Engineer. Alpine (www.alpine-bau.de/en/) or (www.alpine.at/en) is an EPC, main contractor for ADNOC’s new administration building and BOROUGE’s non-process buildings project. Apart from this, Alpine has its presence in UAE’s construction sector for several years now. Dubai Sport’s City Cricket Stadium was one among of Alpine’s construction projects in UAE.

Major projects:

  • The current project is construction of new administration building for the client ADNOC. The project has taken extension of time more than twice its original contact duration of 420 days, since its inception in 2nd Aug 2009 and is still project is not complete. Alpine company is incurring heavy financial losses for over two years; the original project tender cost of 40 million AED has now reached to 88 million AED due to variations and mainly due to delay. The main problem for delay is the location of project & associated restrictions in the area by CNIA (Critical National Infrastructure Authority) & mainly lack of coordination from Alpine with its subcontractors & suppliers

My primary role as a Planning department as this stage of project, is to expedite the closure of the project with required documentation and procedures as guideline by the client, ADNOC & to provide the client and employer the up-to-date status of project periodically.

  • The new project is expansion / construction of non-process buildings in BOROUGE 3, for the client BOROUGE. The work scope includes construction of non-process buildings like warehouses, storage facilities, offices, administrative buildings total 26 buildings with all infrastructure and amenities. Project cost is 111 Million USD and duration 18 months.

My role as a planning engineer, involves updating of the baseline program periodically. The role primarily involves coordination with departments mainly Design & Engineering, Procurement & Construction for receipt of data in pre-designed formats provided to them from planning department and further logical incorporation of the same in the main program, thereby providing regular update to employer and client the up-to-date status of the project.
