January, 2013 - Managing Burial bookings for the seven operational cemeteries in Bromley.
- Issuing permits for memorials on graves and checking they are legal and compliant and are signed by legal grave owner.
- Entry of all financial payments into the cashbook and balancing with Bromley Accounts department each month.
- Answering and assisting the public, funeral directors and stonemasons with any queries they may have for the cemeteries department.
- Weekly visit to the various cemeteries that have burials for the following week to sign off against the map and mark the grave to ensure the correct one is dug.
- Entry of all burial records into the official burial books and index systems used by the borough and requires attention to detail as it is still done manually in the original books and in fountain pen.
- Filing of all cemetery documentation as well as retrieving various documents such as deeds to graves from archives. Some from 1940.
- Ensuring that all the paperwork for a burial is completed and payment is received and co-ordinate the various areas around the burial and memorials.
- Meeting families that want to choose a grave plot at the cemeteries and assisting then via the office as to availability and ensuring their wishes are met as best as possible and they are at ease in their often traumatic situations leading to the need to purchase a grave.
- Assist with mapping of the cemeteries onto the new computer geographical referencing drawing and mapping system as an upgrade to the hand drawn maps that were only available previously.
