Project Controls Manager and Deputy Project Manager (later Project Manager) of the Owner’s Engineers team for the construction and commissioning of an Independent Water and Power Project (IWPP); gas fired power plant with a total 2,730MW capacity and water desalination plant capacity of 63MGPD (11933m3/h). The power plant consisted of eight gas turbines and HRSG boilers and four steam turbines. The water plant consisted of ten Multi-Effect Distillation (MED) units. Additional scope includes 400kV, 220kV and 132kV GIS, cooling tower, post water treatment, potable water reservoirs, gas receiving plant and black start facility.

 

Key achievements:

• Led Project Controls and Execution Management for Project Owner’s Engineers team through the execution of construction and commissioning

• Achieved commercial operation on time for both power and desalination, creating and implementing tight project controls throughout.

• Administered contract/control over contractual matters and claims, change management control and EPC compliance.

• Monitored project key milestones and liaised between EPC and Lender’s Engineer to issue Interim Certificate payments.

• Detail schedule development of full project construction execution, commissioning & start-up, through to close-out.

• Oversaw project schedule monitoring / schedule risk analysis, planning and reporting of progress and variance.

• Contractual issues with back feed power, seawater and cooling water supply, gas supply and third party crossing agreements.

• Identified risks to the project through schedule monitoring, reported progress against actual progress and variance.
