Management Responsibility

  • Interface pro-actively with all Project Planners, Project Managers and the Vice President Capital Projects
  • Continual audit of project network trends on all Major and Minor Capital Projects
  • Produce reports to address project slippages, adverse trends and to cater for changing project scope/objectives
  • Play a lead role on all Major and Minor Capital Projects where development, construction etc. take place and ensuring that planning in sufficient detail is prepared and monitor the interfaces and ensure that project commitments are achieved
  • Manage KPA's of planning resources on all Major and Minor Capital Projects
  • Report on the outcome of all the above activities to the Vice President Capital Projects and propose action plans to correct any adverse trends
  • Motivate members of the project team to meet or beat schedule targets

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Continuous analysis of project schedules
  • Arising from above, circulate alert reports, effects and recommendations to the Project Managers and Vice President Capital Projects
  • Produce and issue weekly and monthly planning report (project report) to Project Managers and Vice President Capital Projects
  • Maintenance of project schedules for filing and archiving
  • Ensure that all project schedules comply to the Lonmin project planning policies, procedures and standards

Technical Responsibility

  • Provide input into project strategy from planning and progress measurement aspect
  • Compile and issue integrated schedule utilising schedules from all project planners
  • Establish and issue key dates
  • Review and accept project network from all project schedules
  • Review network logic against project strategy utilising schedules from all projects
  • Assist in establishing critical path, freeze project schedules and issue as baseline document
  • Assist in integration of sub-contractor and vendor programmes into project network
  • Establish time standards and control measurements for all project schedules in liaison with cost engineering
  • Set up control ā€˜S’-curves

Key Performance Areas

  • Verify and approve the project network and key date schedule
  • Verify and approve EPCM, sub-contractor and vendor schedules
  • Issue all necessary reports identifying potential problems
