European Joint Undertaking for ITER and the development of fusion energy. It is a body which depends on the EU, Euratom and Switzerland as 3rd country. ITER is the highest Project in the world with a 16 billion Euros total budget.

 

Planning and Scheduling Officer – Planning and Scheduling Department

 

Project types: energy

Magnetic components for the future experimental fusion reactor ITER, including the Toroidal Field Coil System (TF), Poloidal Field Coil System (PF) Superconductors, and Pre-Compression Rings (PCR). Projects with a 530.3 million Euros total budget.

 

Responsibilities

§  Supporting for the management of sub-projects using Primavera software. Two of these projects are in the ITER project's critical path. Working with schedules of up to 4,250 activities

§  Facilitating the cyclical planning process

§  Integrating the magnets project plan from subproject’s schedules

§  Creating plans in compliance with the Organisation Procedures and applying best practices  

§  Acquisitions Planning

§  Critical path analysis and calculation of near critical paths

§  Horizontal interrelation with each of the Project Managers responsible for projects. ‘Technical Responsible Officers’ collaborating for objectives’ achievement, new strategies’ formulation, managing cost performance baselines,  milestones’ review, reviewing activities’ progress, etc

§  Collaborating with the management of project interfaces and ‘Inter-Project Links’ (IPLs)

§  Giving advice and support conducting the procurements,projected payments and verification of their implementation in F4E and detailed schedules of the contractor

§  Responsible for reviewing and updating schedules with contractors and realign them with the F4E plannings

§  Cost performance baseline monitoring and trend tracking

§  Development of different types of Excel comparison charts to analyse the temporal and economic progress of projects and some other ones to coordinate their interfaces. These graphs were included in the F4E Project Plan and the F4E Work Program

§  Providing support to Project Managers providing overall schedules of project progress through presentations made ​​with Microsoft PowerPoint

§  Official statement of monthly progress submitted to the IO (ITER Organization) using Primavera software and the F4E Project Management Information System (IDM) within the organization, provided within the agreed deadlines

§  Creating early warnings to prevent major issues

§  Horizontal interrelation with risk assessment officers (RISC) assigned to the commissioned projects. Giving relevant information entries individually and attending to the risk management workshops

 

Key achievements

§  Fulfilled the responsibilities previously discussed on the best way, covering the maternity leave period of the officer who previously was in charge

§  Collaborated with the management of ITER project Interfaces during the ‘Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster’

§  Collaboration in the development of ‘Project Plan edition 2011’, ‘Work Program 2011 3rd amendment’ and ‘Work Program 2012’ of F4E (documents for the ITER project management and its financial management)

§  Satisfied the organisation expectations
