/ Construction Project Planner / Senior Planner, ALPHA CONSRUCTION, & Power infrastructure works and 132kv/66kv substation distibution station

The Bicker Fen substation is the new substation which processes the electricity generated by the onshore wind farm. The power is then fed into the National Grids’ existing Walpole Substation. Alpha was contracted to construct civils elements of works to the client’s design. Our works included the construction of numerous piled foundations, super grid transformer bunds, a control building which includes a steel structure with composite cladding walls and roof complete with internal blockwork partitions and full M&E installation. The access roads, containment, drainage including an underground emergency oil spillage dump tank with a capacity of 400,000 a class 1 full retention separator, pumping station, a new outfall to the existing dike and final site landscaping.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·          Responsible for working closely with the end client on various construction and civil engineering programs, creating detailed plans, monitoring and updating progress, critical path analysis, earned value analysis Ensured that all assigned works were completed on time and within agreed budgets. Supervised Projects: including in house, external contractors and sub-contractors. Attended meetings and competently communicate with Clients, Contractors and major asset owners and stakeholders. I encouraged continuous improvement through the measurement and reporting of the key operational aspects to senior managers.

·          Worked out how much a project is likely to cost and create budgets, including Materials cost, Manpower rates & Equipment and preparing schedule for all of this accordingly.

·          I assess material, labor and equipment required and analyze different quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.

·          I am working from a bill of quantities (BOQ) for tendering or just a set of drawings from the client. analyzing the design even it is Lump sum

·          Provide prices for everything from a one-off scheme to maintenance projects which will be completed.

·          Responsible in getting the best price that will win the contract in a competitive bidding situation, while ensuring that the contract can be profitable.

·          Prepares, develops, coordinates and integrates all levels of plans and schedules.

·          Attend meeting with design consultant, construction consultant management, and contractor to review and approve baseline schedules, and attend regularly scheduled meeting as necessary to stay current schedules.

·          To provide leadership and management of project estimating services to ensure project people, systems and other resources and positioned to effectively support sustaining projects.

·          Responding to developing, updating and tracking program schedules for the various projects.

·          Creation of programmes to NEC3/NEC4 and JCT contract requirements.

·          Programme planning and management of ‘tender’ bids and ‘live’ projects.

·          Receive and understand all project data to integrate into the programme construction activities.

·          Accurate and timely planning, including progress reporting, critical path analysis and live project monitoring

·          Developing supplementary supporting ‘quality submission’ information to tenders, including methodology, traffic management, resource allocations etc.

·          Site team scheduling (short term programmes)

·          Track and identify changes to the accepted programme to NEC3/NEC4 and JCT contract principles and show impact to stakeholders

·          Maintain ‘internal’ MSR (management status report) for ‘live projects’

·          Site team meetings/site visits when required

·          Development and creation of internal and external reports

·          Liaising with managers and engineers to discuss project and address issues

·          Liaise with external contractors and suppliers to organize the phases of the construction development

·          Prepared status reports and other related project planning and controls documentation, including the collection, analysis, and presentation of regular information from major subcontractors.

·          Understand Scope and decompose it into Work Breakdown Structure and Work Packages.

·          Prepare a contract baseline schedule and/or revised schedules using scheduling software.

·          Coordinate schedule from multiple contractors and incorporate the information gathered into the overall project master schedule.

·          Prepare the progress update monitoring sheets for the various project phases and disciplines to allow performing periodic project schedule updates.

·          Prepare & update periodically the progress performance curves & key performance indicators.

Conduct the schedule monthly progress update for the purpose of distributing information to all concerned departments.
