Senior Planning Engineer

Responsible for the preparation of Level 1 Summary and Level 2 Critical Path Networks and Bar charts for Feasibility Studies, Design Development and Construction.

The setting up of a cost control database for the North West Rail Zone, including Budget figures, Cash flow projections and cost monitoring.

The production and analysis of cost and schedule risk assessment models.

Production of a forecasting system used for manpower resource forecasting based on historical time utilisation records and project outturn data.

 

Manchester Victoria Area Infrastructure Renewals

August 1996 – December 1998

Responsible for the preparation of detailed construction programmes and possession strategies for a £50m re-signalling and permanent way remodelling project between Salford Crescent and Thorpes Bridge. The project included a signal control centre building, a telecomms transmission system and a six week complete blockade of the all lines between Victoria and Thorpes Bridge to complete the permanent way construction, signalling commissioning and three major re-constructions of bridge decks. Leading a team of three planning engineers in the production and monitoring of detailed programmes and interdisciplinary worksite co-ordination diagrams for the Blockade.

Production and monitoring of summary cost loaded bar charts for the purposes of cost forecasting. Production and on site monitoring of level 4 progress schedules.

Planning Engineer

Dallam: Royal Mail Hub

April 1996 - August 1996

Responsible for the preparation of detailed construction programmes and possession staging strategies for implementation of a new Royal Mail distribution centre. Preparation of interface programmes between railway works contracts and building fabric works contracts.

 

European Passenger Services - Route Clearances

May 1995 – April 1996

Responsible for the preparation and monitoring of detailed programmes for the clearance of routes in the North West to allow the passage of Eurostar trains, including bridge deck replacements, extensive modifications of signalling and overhead line equipment and remodelling of station platforms. Attending interface meetings with sub-contractors and production of interface programmes for multi-contractor possessions of the running railway. Production of procurement schedules.

 

Manchester Airport Southern Chord

April 1994 to May 1995

Responsible for the production of an overall Project Programme for design and construction of a £6 million project. Co-ordinating sub-contractor’s programmes for integration into Project Programme. The production of a Level 3 construction programme in conjunction with the major civil contractor for major earthworks, bridge construction and track foundations. Weekly site monitoring of construction programme and attendance of weekly site progress meetings.
