Network Rail FTN / GSM-R Programme (Planner to the Commissioning team (6 month rolling Contractor Position)                                                                                  

The FTN /GSM-R Programme:

The FTN / GSM-R programmme is a seven year project to create a privately owned telecommunications network for Network Rail’s operational and business needs. It involves the rollout of 16,000 Kms of optic fibre and copper cable, and the construction of 2500 mobile phone transmission masts across England, Scotland, and Wales. The value of the programme is £1500M.

 

  • Attending high level commissioning / migration meetings and representing the commissioning and programme controls departments.
  • Interpreting transmission commissioning flowcharts and sequencing site works to reflect the detail.
  • Analysing resource profiles and smoothing / levelling resource to manage work volumes.
  • Entering cost data and interfacing the planning software with Oracle Projects (costing software).
  • Liaising with other planners working in different areas and teams on the project to integrate and co-ordinate efforts.
  • Provide data and reports for the regular Monthly Business Review reports, and as ad-hoc reports when required.
  • Provide analysis for different scenarios, issues and threats to the programme.
