Programme Manager for Arup's Role as Environmental Oversight Consultant on HS2 - £34bn Rail project. This project consisted of over 15 contracts put together to deliver the Public Consultation and subsequent Hybrid Bill. Arup's role as the EOC was to manage the technical aspects required to deliver the Draft and Final Environmental Statements for this stage of the project.

Alan reported to the programme director and client team on Programme issues for the EOC commission. As part of this role, he led a series of programme workshops covering the Environmental Lots, which culminated in a presentation to the DfT and in a strategic re-alignment of the programme.

Simultaneously he worked on a project for National Grid, various building projects between £15m - £300m, (Stanford Hall, SouthBank centre and Al-Jazeera). As part of a Business Improvement initiative, he took a lead role in developing the 5yr skills plan and a lesser role in an initiative to rationalise the business’ approach to the use of BIM.
