Project Controls Manager (Site)

Botswana Power Corporation /  2015 - 2018

Project: North West Transmission Grid Connection (NWTGC). Value BWP 4.6 billion. Scope of work: 3000 kilometer’s of new transmission lines 66kV- 400kV from Morupule Power Station to Zambia, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

Responsible for generating L2, L3 and L4 project programmes from design, procurement, supply/fabrication, erection through to commissioning including project close-out.  Developed and implemented project controls for the design, procurement and fabrication and erection stages.   Critical path analysis and assessment.  Liaising with all Engineering Consultants (AURECON, MOTT-McDONALD and KEPCO) and project stakeholders including the client.
Reviewing and approval of Baseline Schedules for all EPC programmes (CONCO, LARSEN & TOUBRO and KALPA-TARU).  Integrating EPC programmes into Primavera P6 EPPM version 15.1.   Reviewing and analysis of EPC Contractor’s Progress reports.  Project progress reporting to Client, Senior Management and Project team including S-Curves & Earned Value analysis.
Overseeing & Mentoring Site Planners & Junior Planners.  Analysis and Evaluation of Extension of Time & Inefficiency claims.  Develop planning and reporting procedures for Engineering Consultants and Contractors.   Develop and maintain Dashboard reports for Senior Management.   Part of the Evaluation Team of tenders for construction contractors.

Achievements: On behalf of BPC as Project Controls Manager, I was part of the technical tender adjudication team that led to the successful appointment in Nov-17 (within price and budget), of x3 internationally renowned EPC Contractors (Larsen & Toubro, Conco and Kalpatura) for the Design, Procurement and Construction of approximately 2000 kilometers of new 66kV-400kV power transmission lines from Gaborone to the north of the Botswana, connecting the Botswana’s electrical power grid to Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe.
