OLE Construction Planning Manager, Balfour Beatty Construction, Crossrail Western Outer Electrification Project

As part of the Cross rail expansion projects, Balfour Beatty is responsible for the Design, Build & Commissioning for a section of OLE (Overhead Line Electrification) track between Stockley Bridge Junction & Maidenhead Station. The works consisted of Foundation Piles for the Signals/Masts & Overhead Line Portal Gantries, All Steel Structure Work, SPS (Small Parts Steel) & Wiring (Including ATF) to accommodate increased traffic through this route. In addition to the OLE element of the works, some ancillary work elements such as Walkways, Fencing, Retaining Walls, further Piling (Pin / Sheet & Concrete) were part of our scope. Due to the previous project delays my role was to focus the construction of the works for Key Milestone deliveries such as the 2015 Christmas possession.

  • Adopt existing project planning issues
  • Developed a New delivery Programme & Strategy
  • Align / Focus & closed out Integration Planning Issues as well as Key Milestone Deliverable work for scope items.
  • Drove Construction Managers to achieve 20% increase in weekly Planned Quantities
  • Developed the Main Programme that simplified & delivered clear, logical processes to achieve delivery objectives.
  • Manage & Lead Missed Works into a Re-planned works schedule.
  • Materials Delivery & Logistics: Design/Materials/Foundation/Steel Erection/SPS/Wiring/Commissioning
  • Drove & Lead regular Planning Workshops to achieve Key Project Milestones
  • De-Risk / De-Bottle neck constraints & Coordinate issues with respective teams.
  • Focused Construction Teams short term objectives to meet & Exceed Project deliverables by 10%
