Project Involvement

Terminal 5 at Heathrow. The biggest construction site in Europe, It is a £4.2 billion investment and it takes 37 million person-hours to complete. Elements of the Terminal 5 project include the main terminal, two satellite terminals, and an air traffic control tower, connections to public transport, road works, rails and tunnels. BAA is committed to factoring environmental impacts into its decisions on design, procurement, construction, training and awareness in order to manage risks and maximize opportunities for this complex project.

 

Key Accountabilities

§  Leading the planning and controls function on a project (medium to high complexity).

§  Resource management, staff development and coaching.

§  Maintenance of programme and other time related material.

§  Implementing robust project controls, accurate reporting and forecasting.

§  Contributes to Pre-Contract Planning, Work Winning and processes.

§  Develops and maintains relationships with client representatives.

§  Develops strategic planning techniques.

§  Creating dashboards and other project reports.

§  Coordinating with the project manager during the review and integration of the schedule.

§  Reviewing the Contractor’s work program submissions, including all narratives and supporting information, and providing analysis and findings.

§  Verifying actual progress and comparing actual performances to original plans. Monitoring, adjusting and updating the cost plan and cash flows accordingly and consolidating these results in the Consultant’s monthly reports.

§  Estimating change order times and submitting this analysis to the project manager.

§  Evaluating the Contractor’s extension of time requests, and preparing recommendations to the project manager.
