Through my start in OPWP was given a rotation training through all the department including two months of plants visit. This rotation gave me a good understanding of the utility sector in total (power and water), enhanced my technical information regarding power and water generation in details, forecasting and planning for the next upcoming years, contract management of the existing plant and invoicing, supervision the progress of the new upcoming plants and finally developing the required capacity to meet the peak demand.

My current position in the company is acting project engineer in the project development department. The main role of the department is to develop the required capacity through a tendering process. The process staring by hiring advisor for project specific requirements through tendering process as well. Along with the advisors, we start preparing Project definition, Risk allocation, Competition Process Paper, then Request for proposal (RfQ) and finally Request for proposal (RfP) to be given to the qualified bidders and after that evaluation of bids, negotiation and award of the contract. In this position there are a lot of management skills are required including project management and stakeholders’ management.

 

My current project:

·         Involved in the first Solar IPP in Oman, through the whole stages of the project (SCOD Q2 2021 expected).

·         Perpetration of scope of work and tender documents for site surveys under ad-hoc basis contracts.

·         Initial perpetration for the new Salalah IWP project (SCOD 2022 expected)

·         Supporting some other projects including the first Coal IPP in Oman and development of Wadi Dhyqah IWP.
