  • Project Portfolio Governance: Created and presented Program and Project performance metrics to Executive Steering Committees that influenced portfolio governance recommendations (funding, scope, schedule, budget, go/no go, etc.) for more than $1 billion of Programs and Projects over a four year period.
  • Project Portfolio Management: Created and integrated project portfolio governance and management methods for IT and business projects including marketing, public affairs, web design, ecommerce, IT infrastructure and software development projects.
  • Project Management Skill Building: Authored and delivered project management training sessions on Work Breakdown Structures, Scheduling, Program Financial Management, Budget Allocation, Work Authorization, Performance Reporting, Earned Value Management, Project Controls, Plan Development, and other topics.
  • Agile Coaching: Integrated Scrum practices into two software development efforts from a methodology and coaching standpoint, and educated IT and business executives concerning the appropriate use of Scrum in their environment.
  • Project Management Methodology: Coauthored P2M2, TIAA-CREF’s Program and Project Management Methodology. Created and co-wrote supporting procedures, tools, and templates to make P2M2 operational. Taught P2M2 concepts and coached hundreds of people in Asset Management, Individual and Institutional Client Service, Core IT, Marketing, and Finance and Accounting. Planned and managed a PMO tool selection project to acquire and implement a platform for the organization to use P2M2 as effectively as possible.
  • Project Planning and Management: Facilitated the construction of project work breakdown structures, project schedules, and Program Master Schedules. Worked one-on-one with managers to create high-quality plans that were credible and achievable.
  • Performance Management: Managed and reported on Program and Project performance using Earned Value Management (ANSI/EIA-748) and other financial management techniques.
  • Resource Planning: Designed and implemented a resource planning and forecast utilization process using Clarity to support work for 3000+ resources with a 12-month pipeline of future work.
  • Project Standards and Audit: Co-authored project management audit standards, criteria and related benchmarking templates. Led Baseline Reviews.
  • Software Quality Management: As interim Director of Software Quality Management for more than a year, drove process improvements in the areas of Inspections, requirements writing, and software testing methods.
