I have a comprehensive understanding of the basic scheduling techniques utilized by the construction industry, as well as practical experience with the development and successful application of such techniques to specific contracts, projects, intensive shutdowns and large-scale programmes.

A working knowledge of the various project delivery systems, the relationships created among the project participants, the scheduling options used, and the strengths and weaknesses that make schedules work successfully. I currently own my own licensed copy of Primavera P6 EPPM vers 15.1, Primavera Risk Analyser (PRA) and MS Project 2016 with over 30 years’ experience using Primavera P3 / P6 and consider myself an expert in the use of Primavera. I have had the opportunity to mentor and train many junior project planners using a hands-on method of training in the use of Primavera project planning software. All of the approx. x15 planners employed by me over the years are now currently employed in senior positions within the x4 of Transnet’s Operating Divisions.

I am eligible to write my PMP exam (PMI Reg No 3145801), having been accepted by PMI based on my application and attended the 35-hour requisite course at SQDC Business School

I have a working knowledge of the standard forms of contract (NEC and FIDIC) and the contemporaneous project record keeping systems that should be maintained, and a grasp of how they can be used to substantiate the plans and performance of the project participants.

An understanding of the budgeting, cost estimating, and cost control techniques including earned value techniques and procedures used to plan, budget, control, track, and report costs.

Extensive experience with development, implementation, control, and periodic reporting of status versus established plans and schedules.

The ability and experience to conduct a proper delay analysis, that is, determined whether the delay is excusable and compensable.

An understanding of the various labour trades and craft and knowledge of and familiarity with industry sources for labour and equipment productivity factors.

A working knowledge of scheduling specifications and what they should include to be effective. Knowledge of the common pitfalls that contribute to failure or abuse of a schedule.

An understanding of key issues such as triple constraint (scope, cost and time) float, concurrent delay, offsetting delay, constructive acceleration, impact on unchanged work, and the cumulative effect of changes.

Construction field experience and familiarization with construction methods and sequencing.

Experience teaching and training others in the principles, fundamentals, and techniques for planning, scheduling, delay analysis, controlling and reporting for construction projects.
