I joined the Construction / Civils industry in 2013 I was 18 years old and had just finished my A-levels. I was taken on and am still currently employed by an incredibly supportive, specialist subcontractor operating out of central London who sponsor me to study Civil Engineering at degree level due to finish 2019. I have voluntarily taken the role of junior planner for my company due to the lack of planning expertise in the company, self-taught in Asta Powerprojects and have worked on various Demolition, Asbestos Removal, Complex Cut and Carve, Groundworks and RC Frameworks projects (all work done inhouse) ranging from a value of £2m - £20m+ for high profile jobs for prestigious Main Contractors and direct for the Client, operating on JCT and NEC forms of contract.

I have found the world of planning to be an incredibly rewarding role within the industry, and with no mentor to teach me the in's-and-out's of the business, I have found the information provided by this website and its experienced users to be invaluable and hope one day to be able to consider myself a professional.
