Alan has 19 years’ experience construction and engineering in which he has worked in Singapore and London as a site engineer, temporary works designer/coordinator, QA manager, auditor, structural engineer, planner, programme manager, delay analyst and expert advisor.  He has worked for contractors, project managers and within client organisations, at both an operational level as well as at a strategic level.

Key notable projects and organisations with whom he has worked over his career include Crossrail, HS2, Kier, FCC, Arup, Exxon, Capita, EC Harris (Arcadis), Lend Lease, Mace, RBS, Laing O’Rourke, DBK & Berkeley Homes, Prime Developments.

He chaired the development of the CIOB’s guide to professional standards for the Management of Time on construction projects, published in Q1 2011. This then led to being invited to assist the United States Government Accountability Office (the US GSAO) develop their guide to cost and schedule management (published in January 2016). He has also contributed to the CIOB’s Guide to Project Management 4th edition and sat on the panel for the 5th Edition. He is accredited as a Medium Risk Reviewer to provide project review services to the Cabinet Office, has been fully security cleared to SC level until 2021.
