Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I have been working within the London construction market as a planner for 6-7 years now and recently I have been trying to secure a job abroad. I have been in contact with a number of recruitment companies but they seem to take for ever to find opportunities. When an opportunity has arisen and I have been contacted by a prospective employer the recruitment company never give straight answers / feed back. Is this common or have I been working with the wrong recruitment firms?

Please can people stop sending me messages about working abroad?
I am not a recruitment consultant nor am I getting anything for giving this information out.
All of the contacts I have only want people from the UK, who have had years of experience of working for UK major projects.

I would suggest if anyone wants to get into planning or workings in a forging country then please do you homework and apply with an agency.

Please do not think I am being rude but I have done what I said I would.
Please look on the P.P job page for working abroad and contacts.

IF the middle east is your thing (remember it does cost a lot to live here) then send me a PM and i will forward you some e-mails for Balfour beatty (direct) and also some other companies who are looking for staff. They tend to now not offer a package, so always get the best deal you can, as housing costs a lot now !!!
I also have a contact for Aus as well !

Send me a PM and i’ll send you the e-mail address’s

Hope this helps.

If you would be looking to work in the middle east, as it is currently in construction boom, there are many choices you could have either by recruitment or going direct. As an example, in the project that I’am working on right now got some of their expat planners from Anderson Young. you can also try NES Overseas or just go surf the information highway and have your choice.... :-)

Could anyone suggest a good recruitment company that specialise in working overseas or is it best to contact prospective employers direct?

I would say yes... their usual reply to your inquiry is that they have sent your cv to the client or they are waiting for the client’s response to date... good luck!
