Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi,

Does anyone know or even tried if Primavera P6 works on a Windows 7, 64bit Operating System? Thanks.

Ronnel;

I am currently running P6.7 under Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

Installing the SQL server was a bit of a hassle (needed to use 2005 instead of 2008). Was fortunate to have an old Primavera support person to assist - it took 3 hours of direct computer control to accomplish. I do not think you will have the same problems, especially if you use Oracle Express, but give yourself plenty of time and make sure you do it during normal support hours. I went with SQL because of familiarity and the need for multiple databases (no prohibition from Oracle so far, regardless of what some think the license says).

I have not rigorously tested it, but it seems to be working fine. Seems necessary to run the SQL server script to enable Background Jobs - may be a 64 bit bug. Oracle database may not have the same problem/bug/annoyance.

Not sure about the requirement to install Oracle Client. That has not been my situation, though I did see the notice.

My project is small, so no real performance increase seen so far.

Great post Rafael,

In a quick summary:

Feb-2009- P6.2.1 was NOT tested to support the 32 or 64 bit Windows 7

Dec-2009- P6.v7 was tested to support 32 and 64 bit Windows 7 (Note: the 64 bit Windows 7 version requires the 32 bit Oracle client)
