Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi All,

The chart of accounts maintained by the accounting organization does not normally relate directly to the WBS, but they have one common linkage which is the Earned Value Management System.

Could somebody explain this in detial?

Cheers,

For EV purposes, the scope of works is often decomposed to Cost Accounts and/or Work Packages (where one or more Work Packages make a Cost Account.) Every activity/task in the schedule would have a code identifying which CA/WP it belongs to.

These Cost Accounts and/or Work Packages generally tie directly to financial accounts against which costs (labour, materials etc.) are captured.

Does that help?
