Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

All,

When i mark a tasks complete or with duration started for some reason my early start date is removed from my subtotals. Is there any reason for this and can it be fixed.

Thanks

That is the way P3 (and all other CPM software) works. Actual dates cause the computed dates to be either overwritten or blanked-out. An Actual Finish date will blank out or overwrite your late computed dates (as well as Total Float). P6 is the lone exception to this rule and even that has other columns that mimic this condition.

You have to ask yourself, why do I want a ‘computed’ estimate date when I already have an actual, ‘fixed’ date? (By the way, there are some advanced, esoteric reasons for needing computed dates for completed activities, but don’t let’s confuse the issue right now.) Good luck!
