Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Exporting notes from Project

Hi All,

I need to be able to get the contents of the notes box in MS Project exported to Excel. The problem I am getting is that when I use bulleted points in the notes box, only the first bullet point is exported.

Is this a known bug or a software constraint that cannot be fixed? I am running MS Project 2003 with the KB832887 patch.

To avoid using macros, save the file as XML in MS Project. Then, open this file in Excel. There will be a lot of fields to sort through, but I found the Notes field under "ns1:Notes" and the project name under "ns1:Name4"

Yep this is a known issue.

The notes field contains data in HTML format which is garbled if you export to Excel.
