Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

I am using MS project Server 2003 and would like to create a variance to calculate the variation between the interim baseline finish (Baseline1 Finish) and the current finish (Finish). I’ve managed to create a formula in a TASK Duration Custom Field using the following formula: ProjDateDiff([Baseline1 Finish],[Finish]) I would like to create the same variance formula as a PROJECT duration to display the project variance in the project Centre in Project Web access. The Custom Field formula I’ve used for TASK Duration does not calculate the variance in PROJECT Duration Custom Field. Can anyone suggest a formula that will calculate Baseline1 Finish v Finish for the project. Thanks Steve

Thanks Brian - that works!

I must remember to select the "use Formula" option in future.

Cheers

In the customize field dialog there is a section called "Calculation for task and group summary rows". In it select "Use Formula". This will have the variance calculated at the summary task levels within your project, including at the project summary task level.

Remember to use an Enterprise level field if you want this to be calculated for all your projects.
