Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Can Engineer increase or decrease the amount of lump sum item through variation clause. If yes then please quote the clause under FIDIC 4th edition reprinted 1992.

Thanks
Omer

Omer,

Yes, Engineer can increase or decrease the amount of lump sum item through variation clause 51 of FIDIC 4th ED(1992).

The Clause 51 does not give any restriction to whether variation should be priced as LS, UP, Daywork, Cost plus, etc.

I suggest you check other part of your contract, such as special conditions or commercial clarification or price schedule (if any and as long as applicable), for clearer understanding of contract’s rule of pricing a variation.

Good day...
