There are standard manhours assigned for every activity on the basis of which we estimate the required manpower against the contractual quantities/quantum of work to be executed.  I just joined a company in the oil and gas recently and part of my job is to present a cost estimate on pipline and other activities of oil and gas.

Please can anybody furnish me with the details of the best available approach in cost estimation especially in the oil and gas.
