As the PPAS is being progressed successfully, we are looking at the next challenge that will benefit the Community and the Guild. 

Our next challenge to keep our members abreast of the current challenges and opportunities within the planning and scheduling profession in Building Information Modelling.

Building Information Modelling (abb BIM) is a relatively new technology and methodology. BIM is the use of intelligent 3d models created by either laser scanning of existing structures or newly designed by professionals for the purposes of constructing,delivering and maintaining assets such as an office building or oil rig.

What does this mean for us planners and PC professionals ?

Because we planners and project controllers are the governors of time on a project, we have the capabilities and skills to control the BIM process on a project, as BIM is a methodological process and is NOT software. 

In light of this, we will be establishing an accreditation scheme in BIM so that our members can become the industry leaders in BIM. 

We already have a number of people interested in becoming editors from the US.
