START Date:

Commenced as a site engineer (civils) working in North Devon as a setting out enginnering on the A361 for Monk Construction

Then moved to Barrow in Furness building the largest (at the time) caisson in Europe, which was to form the new dock entrance for Trident submarines.

Then worked on a variety of schemes from roads, drainage and rail bridges icluding the largest single span bridge on the East Coast Main line

Worked my way up to sub-agent, and project managed a couple of schemes on behalf of the coal authority, though the engineer in me did not enjoy project management, so at the suggestion of my then line manager, gave planning a go

have never looked back since.
