Lead Planner, John Holland Pty Ltd, Regional Rail Link

START Date:
May, 2011

The first of several RRL packages to be awarded and the timely
completion is critical in delivering the overall project to the client (MTM/DOT).
Being a design and construct project, the team had to hit the ground running in order
achieve the dates for PC.

Since contract award, the team and myself have encountered many challenges, such as
producing documentation to get access to site and managing external interfaces.
Working around a busy, live rail environment requires careful pro-active planning
with regards booking occupations and resourcing. My typical role involves:

•  Production and monitoring of contract and target programs for submission to
the client and internal reporting.
 •  Producing entitlement programs and working with the commercial manager in
pricing variations.

•  Working closely with the construction team in producing 4 week look-a-heads
by conducting weekly planning workshops.
•  Planning and monitoring occupation programs: due to the nature of the project,
a large amount of the work has to be carried out in weekend shutdowns where
accurate planning is critical.
•  Managing occupation applications and submissions.
•  Producing payment claims based upon program and comparing planned against
actual expenditure.
•  Weekly and monthly planning reports.

My key achievements have been the accurate tracking of design and interfacing with
construction to drive the design and getting the whole team to ‘buy-in’ to the
program.
