Starting my career as an  apprentice carpenter in 1976 I continued along the route of leading hand, foreman, general foremen, with Bovis Construction then assistant site manager and site manager for Fairview Estates, and for Taylor Woodrow and then Taylor Wimpey contracts manager to production manager.

In 2008 I commenced employment with John Laing Partnership as a Planner, they under took all my training needs though Asta. With in 6 weeks my predecessor retired, and from that time I have only ever worked on my own.

My main/key responsibilities are pre construction and producing contract programme, method statement and site set ups, which will include fire and traffic management plans, phased and feasibility construction plans. Then presenting to the board then clients and if it is a requirement the local residents. Once the contract has been awarded compose the target programme and progress on a weekly bases, compile the information and issue the report to the board.

 On award of contract, exchange the duration to the tasks with the cost of the task using the 'contract sum analysis', giving the cost spent and the cost remaining per task or section or complete project depending on the reporting requirement.

I have been successful in persuading Bramall to use 'Asta site progress', which in turn gave me many obstacles to over come, but once installed took on the training of the site staff to use the software. 

At Midgard I was employed as a site planner on two projects, Imperial Wharf - client St George - 20 million 9 storey R C frame and at Woking - client Barratts - 50 million, R C frame ranging from 6 to 21 storey blocks with retail and 403 apartments. The programme for woking is the biggest I have composed with over 22,000 tasks.
