Senior Planning Engineer (Kuwait Oct 2008 – Currently).
Current Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Coordinating between the different planning disciplines to ensure an accurate and correct plan deliverable starting with the Initiation phase of the project baseline schedule (WBS, RBS,OBS and CBS) passing through, obtaining inputs for schedule development, developing detailed project baseline schedule .
  • Supervising the contractor's project plan during the schedule management and control processes, schedule performance assessment, forecasting, schedule change management, contract claims and disputes and project closeout.
  • Coordinating between the main contractors, sub contractors, the owner representative, project management consultant and technical and design consultant particularly in planning purposes.
  • Advise the contractor on technical matters of the master project plan.
  • Building resource activity plans, including ongoing update, change control, progress reporting.
  • Specification of project objectives and plans including delineation of scope, budgeting, scheduling, setting performance requirements, and selecting project participants.
  • Support maximization of efficient resource utilization through procurement of labor, materials and equipment according to the prescribed schedule and plan.
  • Implementation of various operations through proper coordination and control of planning, design, estimating, contracting and construction in the entire process.
  • Development of effective communications and mechanisms for resolving conflicts among the various participants.

Senior Planning Engineer (Kuwait Feb 2006 – Oct 2008).

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Planning and scheduling
  • Master Construction Schedule (Executive management summary level).
  • Define the Project Scopes
    • Establish the work, resource and organization breakdown structures (WBS, RBS, and OBS).
  • Establish timeline, logical relationship and sequences of deliverables.
    • Determine the budget of each component activity, work package and group of tasks.
    • Provide project execution approaches/methodologies (Quantity analysis and Constructability analysis).
  • Identify the project milestones and key events.
    • Provide detailed project baseline schedule, cash flow, S-curve, resource histograms, basic of schedule is documented.
  • Provide materials, drawings, subcontractors and suppliers control plans
  • Establish measuring and evaluation processes for schedule.
     

  • Schedule Management and Control  

  • Implement schedule management and control procedures.
  • Maintaining the schedule during the project execution phases by:
  • Tracking progress by updating the project schedule on regular
    basis to assess actual performance against the plan.
  • Assess impact on the critical path and near-critical activities and
    report critical work activities to project management.
  • Monitor schedule deviations and variances and assist in
    developing alternative methods for corrective actions.
  • Perform value analysis upon recommended alternatives to determine
    cost/benefits tradeoff, and request recommendations to project management.
  • Revise the schedule as directed by the project management and ensure that the schedule changes are communicated to all project team members.
    • Schedule coordination and communication by:
  • Present and answer questions on project plans and schedule at project meetings.
  • Perform analysis to evaluate alternative plans, work-around courses of action, otherwise, amend, plan, schedule.  
  • Work in concept with the project cost engineers, quantity surveyors, estimators, and materials control personnel, to ensure cost and schedule integration.

  

  • Schedule change management by:
     
  • Revise the approved baseline schedule only when a change order indicates a change in scope or duration.
  • Keep time-phased copies of the schedule of the work as historical records as the project progress.
  • Provide schedule-related recommendations to the project management team on strategies to recover from the project delays.
    • Schedule reports and deliverables by :
  • Perform schedule analysis and provide periodic (daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, Quarterly, semi-annual, annual) current/ahead status reports of schedule content to the project management team.
  • Issue status updates and approved revisions of the schedule that reflect work progress and time elapsed.

  • Project and schedule closeout by:

  • Upon completion of the project, verify that the as-built schedule reflects accurate completion dates for each schedule activity.
