Contract and Project Controls, Kenny Construction, Gardnerpark - Central Wisconsin & Morgan-Werner West Transmission & Distribution project

START Date:
November, 2007
END Date:
February, 2010

Northeastern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan are served electrically by 345- and 138-kilovolt transmission lines that are some of the most constrained in the ATC system. These constraints limit ATC's ability to move power in and out of the Upper Peninsula, and cause overloading on other parts of the electric system. To address the reliability problems, ATC is proposing a new 50-mile transmission line from the Morgan Substation south of Oconto Falls to a new substation - called Werner West - in the New London area. The Morgan-Central Wisconsin-Werner West line will relieve congestion on facilities in and north of Green Bay, resulting in additional transfer capability and greater electric reliability for the area. In addition, it will provide capability for transmission service for a new power plant being built in the Wausau area.
