Project Controls Engineer, Pacific Aluminium, Katherine to Gove Gas Pipeline Feasibility Study

December, 2013 Pacific Aluminium and Rio Tinto proposed to construct a natural gas pipeline to the alumina refinery at Gove in north east Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. The proposed pipeline was approximately 603km in length and the feasibility study included detailed engineering and preparation for construction with the goal of providing full gas of 30PJ/annum by 1st January 2016.
My responsibilities included:
- Development and maintenance of the owner’s team schedules for feasibility study timeline, environmental, land access and pipeline licence approvals
- Integration of the engineering & construction schedules into the overall project master schedule
- Cost forecast development for both the feasibility study and execution phases of work
- Preparation of management plans, monthly reports and the feasibility study report.
As part of this role I worked closely with the design engineers, site based personnel, construction contractors, estimators and other members of the feasibility study team.
