John is a Civil and Structural Engineer with over 12 years Design and Project Management experience across several different continents. Since moving to the United Kingdom in 2002 he has worked for three of the country’s largest Engineering consultancies leading project co-ordination in predominantly Structural and Infrastructure led projects. Within Buro Happold John has provided specialist Project Management, Quality, Risk, Schedule, and Cost Control advice across a variety of local and foreign based projects.

John’s Masters Degree from the University of Canterbury (NZ) majored in Engineering Management and Process Control. This post-graduate degree and ensuing commercial experiences within the fields of Quality and Process Engineering along ongoing Management study through both the Project Management Institute and George Washington University allow him to directly affect design and management process to achieving greater project efficiency and devise increased opportunities for project success.

John has experience leading and monitoring projects against their programme and key performance criteria as well as effective communication status and progress to respective management teams. He is conversant with the use of classical project management techniques such as Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Organisational Breakdown Structures (OBS), Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS), Earned Value Measurement (EVM), Preparation of Communication Plans, Network Programme Plans and Stakeholder Analysis. He also has experience customising existing management tools to fit the varied demands he has encountered within Buro Happold’s operations such as the creation of project dashboards and customising interfaces between Primavera, Pertmaster, Asta PowerProject and company MS excel/SharePoint tools.
