Steven is accountable for all aspects of delivery of a sustainable and profitable construction business. Steven grew the business into a construction consultancy business over the past four years. He has been responsible for everything from accounts to websites as well as securing and carrying out work for our clients.
Birmingham Schools BSF 2008 - Present
Steven was initially seconded to help win Bovis’ £1.2 billion pound tender. He re-wrote many areas in more detail and made it more user friendly for the schools to understand. He programmed the sample schools and drew up 3D and time sliced logistic, fire, safety & security, phasing and decant plans to explain to non-construction personnel in the schools.
After the contract was won Steven was requested to develop the next batch of projects. He has developed generic stage one, two and three programmes for the BSF tender framework and is currently detailing programmes for two academy schools; three refurbishment/new build schools and an all through school.
Shopping Centre Claim 2009
Steven worked for Costain to deal with an extension of time claim on a £78 million shopping centre that had fallen behind due to lack of information and proper instruction by the their client.
He substantiated the claim and was able to demonstrate where the delays were occurring by strategic mapping and baseline programmes of cause and effect.
Housing Estate Construction Claim 2008-9
Steven helped demonstrate and substantiate an extension of time for this client. The contract should have lasted for a few months and had been already exceeded three years in duration and was likely to continue for another three.
Northampton Schools PFI 2006-2008
Completion and Certification
Steven ensured that the facilities were built in compliance with the contract.
Steven coordinated with numerous parties, NCC, sites, contracts managers, sub-contractors, Northamptonshire building control, Design and Construction Co-ordinators and Independent Certifiers.
Steven carry out internal inspections, check rooms against Architects and Mechanical & Electrical data sheets and specifications.
Certification Manager
This project is enabling Northamptonshire County Council to switch from a three to a two-tier education system. With a total value of ₤192m this 3 year contract is the largest education PFI project in the UK to date
This contract involves a combination of New Building, Refurbishment and Re-modelling at 42 schools. The new build consists of 5 new Secondary Schools and 6 new Primary Schools. Refurbishment and Re-modelling with some new extensions which make up the remaining 31 schools.

WBH were employed to project manage the new prestigious Spa built for Whittlebury Hall in time for the Grand Prix.

Steven was accountable for all aspects of Building Operations, delivering projects within cost criteria, to customers’ programme, quality and safety criteria. Responsible for projects that contributed a turnover value £40-50million per annum to the region. This approximately equated to over two million square feet of high bay warehouse space and over one million square feet of office space in the past three years.

Here I looked after all the finishes and M&E plus the planning for the entire project.
1996-97Senior Planner
Following the success at Argos I moved into the office to help set up a planning department as nothing existed before my arrival.
I gave input on tenders regarding durations, how to build to preliminary costs on projects ranging from a £0.5m road diversion to the £26m Reading Football Club Stadium. .

Steven was initially taken on by Birse as a junior agent but was asked to fulfil the role as planner for
Argos Distribution Centre, Stafford (£16m).
Design and Build. Distribution facility totalling 40,000 square metres.
At this time Birse had only one planner without the required experience. I planned the whole project and client fit out from tender to completion. I invented strategic planning, which brought planning forward from just bar charts to a client friendly display-monitoring tool.
