Christopher McCormick

First Name:
Christopher
Last Name:
McCormick

Chris began his career over 27 years ago as a site engineer for a large contracting organisation. Chris completed his studies on a part time basis and over the first 10 years of his career was promoted through the ranks to site agent before moving into tender and project planning.

After several years tender and project planning for large contracting organisations, Chris took the positive decision to move from contracting into consultancy and for the past 14 years he has specialised in the field of retrospective delay analysis. In this time, Chris has completed over 50 commissions on projects ranging in value to £2 billion and has been formally appointed as delay expert under Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules more than 20 separate occasions.

In the 16 years dedicated to planning and programming, Chris has established a proven track record of producing robust programmes from first principles and managing the onsite planning and programming function. Chris is experienced in the use of critical path analysis (CPA), line of balance (time location), programme risk analysis and 4d planning techniques.

Chris is experienced in the application of all recognised forms of delay analysis, although, he generally adopts a common sense practical approach to delay as opposed to the application of heavy schedule analysis or theoretical delay calculations. Chris keeps abreast of, and is guided by, current case law and good industry practice, including the SCL Delay and Disruption Protocol.

Chris has gained extensive experience of claims preparation and management and has a proven ability to assist lawyers and Counsel by explaining complex issues in a concise and intelligible manner. He has experience in structured negotiation, ENE, adjudication, mediation, arbitration and litigation.

Chris has experience of planning and programming under different forms of contract, including; ICE, NEC, JCT, GC Works, FIDIC, IChemE and bespoke forms of contract.

His experience crosses many sectors including Building, Civil Engineering, Infrastructure, Highways, Petrochem, Oil & Gas, Rail, Renewable Energy, Health, Education, Residential, Leisure, Public, Waste and Aviation.

Chris has a determination to resolve challenging and complex issues and works diligently by himself or in conjunction with others.
