JOB TITLE:          Project Planner

Since joining Network Rail in July 2006 I initially worked on the West Coast Main Line on the A09 Line Speed Enhancement Project. In November 2008 I have been transferred to the National Project Team based in York, in that time I have done the following activities at development stage:

•Created a high level P3/P3e schedule & updated it from the desktop scoping exercise done by the engineers.
•Developed a work break down structure with the Project Manager from their checklist of deliverables.
•Created several high level tracker spreadsheets to assist with the overview of the project.
•Booked worksites in PPS & requested disruptive possessions that we believed were required
•Created a Route Section Stick Diagram of all work packages for presentations & development of project
•Worked on Legacy projects EE45: Removal of TSR’s between London Euston & Northampton & EE15: TDM & FDM installation works in the Birmingham area.
As the project moved on from Development to Design stage, there was a restructuring within the team & I became the Project Planner for the Track & OLE section of works which required:
•A more detailed P3 / P3e schedule with resources & costs to be created & updated.
•Design contractors Schedules analyzed against our own.
•Progress meetings with design contractors & high level planning access meetings attended.
•Haulage & On Track Plant requested.
•Scope within worksites was firmed up & agreed.
•Work on the Legacy Projects EE45 most of the works had been completed & closed except for Re-Railing of pre 1976 Rail which developed into 104010 which was implemented by the IMM but I over saw & managed the Project & reported on it to my Project Manager & Senior Project Manager.
After the Design stage was almost complete for Track & OLE again we were restructured & I am now Construction Project Planner, within this I am tasked with:
•Creating & updating a 14 weekly construction look ahead In Excel & P3 (P3 version no longer required).
•Assist in booking late notice worksites using PCCF form & entering them into PPS system.
•Attend Planning Access Meeting to discuss in detail the work being done in the work sites, ensure they were agreed by the Access Planning Managers & any clashes with other contractors resolved
•Assisted with booking & tracking the on track plant requirements.
•Booked (using NROL system), updated, tracked, managed Haulage & I am the single point of contact between the contractors & haulage suppliers NDS.
•Negotiated late haulage requests.
•Closed out Project 104010 (in a record 8 weeks)
•Leading in the close out of Legacy Projects that are on the A09 portfolio.
•Do some general planning duties, update reports & assist in collating information for monthly presentations for the Project Controls Manager.
