Dear Members,

We have two announcements to make in this Newsletter - both of which have been hinted at in the recent past - we fervently trust you'll like them! 



We have selected a team to produce Newsletters to you and we're sure that the actual content - providing advice and information to help you all in your day to day duties will substantially improve following these changes.  

Having a team who are involved in Project Controls globally seeking copy they see as informative has to produce a better Newsletter and we hope you will all agree.

The first edition will be produced shortly: watch this space as they say!


Planning Planet provides a free website as we truly care about Project Controls - we're Practitioners after all!

In the many years we have been involved (seventeen) stark truths become apparent and in our own way, we have tried (with your support) to do something about them!

In addition to Planning Planet, we formed the Guild of Project Controls with written Standards which form the backbone of all the Certifications across all the disciplines and competence levels as well as documenting best tested and proven practices for Practitioners. The Guild has developed a model based on proven competence and it has dawned on us that the infrastructure we have put in place for the Guild also addresses another huge issue in our marketplace: the recruitment process from both perspectives of candidate and employer.

We did give you advanced warning of this - an initiative we have called SOTERIA or Soteria Technical Services to be exact....

Why SOTERIA? Well, Soteria is the Greek Goddess of safety a lady to be relied upon, you can probably guess where we are going with all this...!

So here is a summary....Soteria Technical Services - THE solution to all the difficulties in running a Project Controls environment: written by Practitioners for Practitioners AND their employers....


Here we summarise the benefits to candidates - those applying either as employees or self-employed.

As a candidate this complete process is free of charge and (vitally important to you, we believe) - is completely confidential and subject to your permission who else sees the report we will generate for you the findings ARE important to you; more in a few sentences!


Yes a report:  we will follow Guild documented good practice practices which are proven: self assessment and then a conversation with a Guild assessor (a senior Practitioner) will tell you lots of things - it will detail your skills and where you have been found to be weaker we will inform you where we think this.

As a practitioner we feel this is important to you... we all think we're good at our job and the majority of us may be right in that assumption but how VALUABLE is it to have our skills INDEPENDENTLY assessed by an EXPERT and be given guidance on where to improve if you think it is required?

  • Step 1 - tell us you are interested
  • Step 2 - you make sure your profile on Planning Planet is uptodate
  • Step 3 - you can self assess to show yourself and clients (with your permission) how great you are (we will send you the link to the online tool)
  • Step 4 - with your permission we show how great you are to employers and get you shortlisted
  • Step 5 - we connect you with an independent Guild expert who discusses your SELF assessment and helps you understand your STRENGTHS and possible areas of WEAKNESS (if any) thus creating an INDEPENDENT assessment
  • Step 6 - you interview with the employer to talk about your profile and your proven / independently assessed skills

We only go through this process if a potential employer wishes to know more about you then with your permission we will act as above.

Successful candidates will be enrolled into the Guild with a free annual membership - remember also that your prospective interview will take place with your skills already independently assessed - you are in the driving seat!
