The concept is that the GPCCAR summarises the concepts and points us to good references.

46,000 Guild page views last week!

We have deliberately moved to Module 7 as the current module is the third of four which make up the subject matter for the FOUNDATION LEVEL Certification in Planning & Scheduling.

FROM THE ABOVE:

We have been asked (by the community) to rollout the Planning & Scheduling Foundation Level documentation first.

This consists of the following modules from our overall GPCCAR...

Keep those emails coming in; we are amazed at the feedback and expressions of interest to help - thanks everyone.

Together we are making a difference... if you want to HELP IMPROVE THIS MODULE - get in touch.  It is a global / collective effort by "us planners, schedulers, cost estimators, quantitiy surveyors and project controls people" so do get invovled...

This "Managing Planning & Scheduling" module sets out the basics and points to "read more" references which aim to explain:

  • Scheduling Methods, Levels & Schedule Views
  • The Plan & Schedule Development Process Map
  • Identify / Capture All Schedule Activities
  • Create The Logical Relationships & Sequence Activities
  • Assigning Resources To All Activities
  • Calculate The Duration Of Each Activity
  • Calculating Float And The Critical Path
  • Validate The Critical Path & Completion Dates
  • Validating Horizontal And Vertical Integration
  • Conducting A Schedule Risk Analysis
  • Baselining And Communicating The Schedule

Note - more detail for the advanced schedule will be included in the Managing RESOURCES Module.

The Guild of Project Controls Compendium and Reference (GPCCARis a suite of process-based documents which demonstrate what 1,000's of contributors believe constitutes Project Controls.

The global community of time and cost practitioners / managers are collaborating and this is the result.

The GPCCAR effectively frames the opinions of the Global Project Controls Community.

The exciting part is that ANYONE with an opinion (and justification) is free to propose amendments and additional references.  This is an ever evolving global statement as to what we, the practitioners, believe constitutes our role as "time and cost managers".

This is "by us, for us" so have your say!  Maybe it doesn't reflect your industry sector, or how YOU do it so get in touch and if a change is justified we'll do it and you will be credited.

Please encourage your colleagues to join Planning Planet (or the Guild) if they wish to see the GPCCAR modules themselves - its all free and gratis.

WHATS NEXT?

As you may already know, each week we will be releasing the next module and at the footer of each of the Modules there are details of how you can get involved to change or improve upon this initial baseline or even to have it point to an external reference on the Interweb that you like or feels add's value. That's All Folks...

Regards....
